Interim Removal from Housing
In certain circumstances, NC State may take one or more interim actions to safeguard the University community before a student conduct process begins or is completed. These interim actions may be imposed effective immediately, without prior notice, when, in the University’s judgment, there is a need to implement an individualized response based on the seriousness of the alleged violation(s) of the Code and/or the potential for an ongoing threat or disruption to the University community (Code of Student Conduct, Section 12).
Interim Housing Recommendations
In situations where a student has been issued an interim removal from Housing or from Greek Village, they are not permitted to live in these facilities. It is recommended that students seek temporary accommodations with a friend, relative, or trusted individual off campus while the proceedings are ongoing. Finding a stable and safe place to stay during this time is important to ensure one’s well-being and provide a supportive environment.

Frequently Asked Questions
Below are common questions students may have about the interim removal process and the next steps in the process.
Would I qualify for on-campus emergency housing through Pack Essentials?
No. In the event a student is interimly removed from University Housing facilities, they are not permitted to return to any residential area on campus without permission. This would automatically disqualify them from utilizing on-campus emergency housing through Pack Essentials.
How long is the interim removal?
The length of time will depend on the details of any pending or current disciplinary case. Students should consult with their assigned hearing officer from the Office of Student Conduct to discuss a tentative timeline for the process.
While an interim removal is designed to be temporary, the University may ultimately decide to issue a complete removal from Housing. Students should prepare for any potential scenario and are strongly encouraged to proceed with their case in a prompt and timely manner.
What do I do with my stuff? Are there storage facilities provided by NC State?
During an interim removal, students do not have to move out all of their belongings from their assigned living space, but are encouraged to take personal and school related items, as access to their residence will be restricted. NC State does not provide storage facilities.
This process is overwhelming and stressful. What do I do?
Any disruption to one’s academic and housing environment can be difficult. Students are encouraged to talk with with a trusted friend or family member, along with exploring available resources that can provide ongoing support and guidance.
