Academic Support
- 1:1 Tutoring: The Academic Success Center (ASC) offers appointments for 1 on 1 assistance from peer/student tutors for a wide range of courses. Appointments are available both in person or over zoo
- Academic Peer Mentoring: Academic Peer Mentoring matches undergraduate students with a peer mentor who will help improve their academic success skills from time management to study techniques and exam preparation!
- NOTE: Academic Peer Mentoring requests are closed for the Fall 2024 Semester. However, Spring 2025 requests will open Thursday, January 2nd at 1pm
- Drop In Tutoring Sessions: A team of tutors is ready to assist you in Math, Chemistry & Physics through the Academic Success Center. Come to drop-in tutoring to ask questions of our tutors and to study with other students taking similar courses. No appointment needed!
- Supplemental Instruction (SI): The ASC offers SI sessions targeting historically difficult courses! These sessions are peer run and give both guidance and a comfortable environment to re-engage with and learn difficult concepts.
- Weekly Tutoring Groups: The Academic Success Center offers weekly group tutoring for students who are interested in weekly group study sessions facilitated by a trained tutor. Group tutoring sessions are collaborative and give students the opportunity to work with students taking the same class from the same professor
- NOTE: The Weekly Group Tutoring Request Form is closed for the Fall 2024 semester. However, students are encouraged to explore this option at the start of the Spring 2025 semester.
- Writing Center: The Undergraduate and Graduate Writing Center each offer both in person and virtual appointments for students looking for guidance in their writing or an extra reader for their assignments.
Wellness Resources
- The Counseling Center offers Drop-In Support, Workshops, and Counseling to students in a wide variety of contexts. Individual or group sessions are available ranging from Academic Counseling to Addictive Behavior Counseling.
- Along with mental health services, the Counseling Center offers support and resources to help you thrive while at NC State. Connecting with students who have a shared identity, background, or culture can be a big help, as can learning more about mental health.
- The Disability Resource Office (DRO) facilitates accommodations and services for individuals with documented disabilities and serious medical conditions. Remember to request any accommodations you need as well as to schedule any of your tests, but don’t forget to inform your faculty.
- Drop In Spaces: Engage in a variety of experiences that allow you to find connection and support.
- NC State CARES provides support to students who are struggling or are in distress, if you or anybody you know are experiencing or showing signs of mental or emotional distress, please reach out.
- Togetherall is an online peer support community available 24/7, 365 days a year ready to listen and give your mental well-being a boost.

Upcoming Events
- Warm Up for Finals With New Student Programs (Tuesday 12/3): Join New Student Programs at 1887 Bistro for a relaxing break during De-Stress Fest. Stop by to create a grab-and-go self-care kit, make a do-it-yourself stress ball or paint your own coffee mug. Enjoy board games, puzzles, hot chocolate and cookies.
- Exam Essentials Kits Giveaway at DH Hill and Hunt Libraries (Tuesday 12/3): Exam week can be stressful. Luckily, both D.H. Hill and Hunt Libraries have you covered. Stop by either library to pick up an exam essentials kit and spin the Academic Success Center Wheel of Success for a prize. The kit will include highlighters, flyers from campus partners, sticky notes and more.
- De-Stress Fest at the LGBTQ Pride Center (Wednesday 12/4): Come take a break and recharge at the LGBTQ Pride Center. Study hours are from 10am – noon with gaming fun during the afternoon.
- Pause For Paws (Wednesday 12/4): Join Prevention Services at Hunt Library for Pause for Paws! Certified therapy dogs from Canines for Service will visit the library to comfort students and help them relieve stress.
- Relax, Recharge and De-Stress With Multicultural Student Affairs (Wednesday 12/4): Come kick back and relax with Multicultural Student Affairs. Enjoy delicious snacks, fun games and activities to recharge your mind and body. Take a break from the hustle and grind of finals, and join us for a relaxing time.
- Drop-In Pickleball (Tuesdays and Thursdays Through December): Stop by Centennial Campus on Tuesdays and Thursdays between 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. to play the fastest-growing game in America: pickleball. There is no cost to play, and the activity is open to everyone
- Expressive Arts (Wednesday 12/4): Expressive arts is an open space for anyone who wants to engage in art making in a therapeutic environment. Anyone can come to one or all of the groups even if you can only come for part of the time! We do both short and long-term projects and always have space for an individual project if it is needed.
